Workers’ remittances surge 14% to $ 10.9 billion in Q1 FY27 with $3.6 b inflows in September

The Workers’ remittances from overseas to Pakistan increased to US$ 10.87 billion during the first quarter of fiscal year 2026-27 (Q1 FY27), showing a 14 percent growth as compared to US$ 9.54 billion received during the same period last year.

KARACHI, Oct 09 (APP): The Workers’ remittances from overseas to Pakistan increased to US$ 10.87 billion during the first quarter of fiscal year 2026-27 (Q1 FY27), showing a 14 percent growth as compared to US$ 9.54 billion received during the same period last year.
“In September 2026, workers’ remittances recorded an inflow of US$ 3.6 billion showing an increase of 12.7 percent on y/y basis and decrease of 1.9 percent on m/m basis,” the State Bank of Pakistan reported on Friday.
The remittance inflows during September 2025 were recorded as $ 3.18 billion while overseas workers sent $ 3.66 billion in August 2026, the SBP data shown.
During September 2026, the major corridors for workers’ remittances were Saudi Arabia (US$ 899.1 million), United Arab Emirates (US$ 748.5 million), other GCC countries (US$342.1 million), United Kingdom (US$ 515.1 million) and United States of America (US$ 305.9 million).
The contribution of expatriates in remittances from European Union countries during September 2026 recorded as $447.7 million including $133.5 million from Italy, $84.6 million from Spain, $68.5 million from Germany, $48.6 million from Greece, $46.8 million from France, $24.6 million from Ireland and $16 million from Belgium.
Overseas workers also contributed to the remittances from Australia with inflows of $101 million, Canada $66.5 million, South Africa $26 million, Malaysia $13.9 million, Norway $11.5 million, South Korea $11.9 million, Switzerland $5.7 million and Japan $6.6 million.
