PESHAWAR, Oct 09 (APP):Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Friday paid tribute to the security forces for successfully eliminating seven terrorists during an operation in North Waziristan, saying their sacrifices for eliminating terrorism and ensuring lasting peace in the country were commendable.
He said the destruction of terrorist hideouts and recovery of a large cache of arms and ammunition marked significant progress in the ongoing campaign against terrorism.
In a separate statement, Governor Kundi expressed deep grief and sorrow over the martyrdom of two police personnel in two separate firing incidents in Jamrud tehsil of Khyber district.
He extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, prayed for the eternal peace of the departed souls and strength for the families to bear the loss with patience.
The Governor said the sacrifices rendered by police personnel and forces for maintaining law and order and protecting the lives of citizens were unforgettable, adding that the nation would always remember the brave officers who laid down their lives in the line of duty.
