PMD forecast rain, thunderstorms across upper and central Pakistan from Saturday

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast rain, windstorms and thunderstorms, with isolated hailstorms, across the upper and central parts of the country from Saturday, with occasional gaps between spells. 

ISLAMABAD, Oct 09 (APP): The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast rain, windstorms and thunderstorms, with isolated hailstorms, across the upper and central parts of the country from Saturday, with occasional gaps between spells.
A westerly wave is expected to enter the upper parts of the country on Saturday and is likely to persist until October 15.
In Punjab and Islamabad, rain, wind and thunderstorms, with isolated hail, are expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, Lahore, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Sargodha and several other districts on October 10-11 and again on October 13-14.
Multan, Layyah, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur, Sahiwal, Okara and nearby districts may see similar weather on October 10, 11 and 13.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is likely to see the longest spell, with rain, wind and thunderstorms, along with isolated hail, expected in Peshawar, Swat, Dir, Chitral, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Kohat, Bannu, Dera Ismail  Khan and other districts from October 10 to 15.
In Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, isolated spells are expected in Muzaffarabad, Neelum Valley, Mirpur, Kotli, Gilgit, Skardu, Hunza and other areas over the same period, again with occasional gaps.
Balochistan will remain mainly hot and dry, though isolated rain or thunderstorms are likely in Zhob, Barkhan and Musakhel on October 10, 11 and 13. Sindh is also expected to stay mainly hot and dry in the coming days.
The PMD has warned that strong winds, hail and lightning could damage weak structures such as kacha houses, electric poles, billboards, vehicles and solar panels.
Hailstorms may also damage standing crops in the plains of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while light snowfall is likely over high mountains and glaciers. Daytime temperatures are expected to fall by 2 to 4C during the forecast period.
The department advised farmers to plan their crop activities according to the weather and urged all concerned authorities to remain vigilant and take necessary measures to avoid any untoward situation.
