TARBELA, Oct 09 (APP):The Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) has achieved another significant milestone in the construction of the 1,530-megawatt Tarbela 5th Extension Hydropower Project with the successful breakthrough of a connecting tunnel linking the existing tunnel to the project’s reservoir tank shaft.
According to project details, the achievement reflects the continued efforts, technical expertise and effective coordination among the stakeholders involved in the construction of the project.
The successful breakthrough marks an important step towards the completion of the Tarbela 5th Extension Hydropower Project, which is aimed at enhancing Pakistan’s electricity generation capacity and increasing the supply of clean, renewable energy to meet the country’s growing power requirements.
The project is expected to contribute to strengthening the national power system by adding substantial hydropower generation capacity and supporting the country’s long-term energy needs
