ATC grants three-day physical remand of PTI leader

An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Friday granted a three-day physical remand of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Taqi Raza Khan in a case involving the burning of police vehicles at Afshan Chowk during the May 9 violence.

LAHORE, Oct 09 (APP): An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Friday granted a three-day physical remand of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Taqi Raza Khan in a case involving the burning of police vehicles at Afshan Chowk during the May 9 violence.
ATC Judge Manzer Ali Gill passed the order after police produced the accused before the court upon completion of his 19-day physical remand.
The investigating officer sought further physical remand, stating that the police needed to recover the accused’s mobile phone for investigation. Defence counsel Bilal Mustafa and Yousaf Wain appeared on behalf of the accused and opposed his arrest in the case.
The defence lawyers argued that Taqi Raza Khan had been arrested in the case after three years. They also informed the court that he was already on interim bail in the Jinnah House attack case.
The court subsequently approved a further three-day remand.
The accused has been arrested in the case registered at Sarwar Road Police Station under FIR No. 103/23.
