ATC remands 20 suspects in custody for 10 days in Tollinton Market attack case

An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Friday granted a 10-day physical remand of 20 suspects arrested in connection with an alleged attack on a Punjab Food Authority (PFA) team at Tollinton Market.

LAHORE, Oct 09 (APP): An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Friday granted a 10-day physical remand of 20 suspects arrested in connection with an alleged attack on a Punjab Food Authority (PFA) team at Tollinton Market.
The suspects, including Shoaib, Shahid, Akram and Younis, were produced before ATC Judge Manzer Ali Gill. Police sought their physical remand for investigation.
The prosecutor also spported the police request, submitting that traders and workers at Tollinton Market allegedly attacked administrative officials and assaulted members of the Food Authority team. He further told the court that when a magistrate visited the market shortly afterwards, his vehicle was also attacked.
The prosecutor said the suspects allegedly gathered in a mob and surrounded administrative officials, while police personnel accompanying the team were also subjected to violence.
Subsequently,  the court approved 10-day physical remand of the accused and directed police to produce them on expiry of remand term.
The Ichhra police has registered a terrorism case against the suspects in connection with the incident.
