MULTAN, Oct 09 (APP):The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Multan has distributed cheques worth Rs 40.69 million among victims of the sugar scandal in compliance with the orders of the Accountability Court, Multan.
Acting Director General NAB Multan Rafiullah presided over the cheque distribution ceremony attended by Additional Director (Staff) Chaudhry Muhammad Asghar, Additional Director Muhammad Ramzan, and other officials.
NAB Multan had filed a reference against the accused in the Accountability Court, Multan, in June 2026 after completing its investigation into the sugar scandal. The case is currently under trial.
During the inquiry and investigation, NAB Multan made concerted efforts to recover the victims’ money. As a result, more than Rs 300 million has so far been returned to over 40 victims.
Addressing the ceremony, Acting Director General Rafiullah said that, in line with the vision of the NAB chairman, the prompt recovery of public money looted through various scams and fraudulent schemes, followed by its return to the rightful owners, remained among the bureau’s top priorities.
He said NAB Multan was utilizing all available resources and pursuing every possible legal avenue to recover misappropriated funds and provide relief to victims.
He reaffirmed the bureau’s commitment to vigorously pursuing such cases and ensuring that recovered amounts were returned to their rightful owners in accordance with the law.
NAB Multan would continue its action against corruption, financial fraud, and scams involving the misappropriation of public funds, with the recovery of looted money and maximum relief to victims remaining its foremost priorities, he added.
