LAHORE, Oct 08 (APP): Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan stated that PPP believes in public service and has always struggled for the rights of the people.
Speaking during a meeting with PPP Women’s Wing Lahore President Nargis Khan and women from Islamabad-based NGO at the Governor’s House here on Thursday, he said party’s workers are its true asset and that the role of women in the country’s development is commendable.
Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan said that the fundamental philosophy of the People’s Party is to serve the public, particularly by empowering women and uplifting marginalized sections of society.
He emphasized that equipping women with skills and providing them with employment and economic opportunities is a crucial need of the hour.
The Governor noted that women are an integral part of society and play a pivotal role in any nation’s development. He described the Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto as a role model for women in the society, stating that she set a shining example for Pakistani women in the fields of politics and public service.
“Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto was a great leader and void left by her martyrdom can never be filled”, he said, adding in today’s era, women do not lag behind men in any field. He instructed the party’s women to go door-to-door to convey Bilawal Bhutto’s message.
The Governor of Punjab further stated that those who harass women would be dealt with strictly. He remarked that individuals who harass women in educational institutions or workplaces deserve no leniency. He added, “The religion of Islam also teaches us to respect women.”
Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan stated that the participation of women in welfare activities is commendable. He noted with appreciation that numerous welfare organizations operating under the leadership of women are rendering services for the betterment of humanity. The Governor emphasized the importance of encouraging such welfare organizations that are working selflessly for the welfare of humanity.
