KARACHI, Oct 08 (APP): Regional Cricket Association Karachi (RCAK) President Nadeem Omar has described the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Inter-School Cricket Tournament as the world’s largest school cricket event in terms of the number of participating teams.
In a statement on Thursday, he termed the nationwide promotion of school cricket a commendable initiative by the PCB, crediting Chairman Mohsin Naqvi and his team for taking practical steps to promote the game and identify talent at the grassroots level.
Nadeem Omar also appreciated Director Domestic Cricket Operations Usama Sharoon Niazi for developing a nationwide network of cricket activities, saying his efforts and strategy had helped strengthen the game across cities and regions.
He said school cricket laid the foundation for the future of the sport, adding that the tournament would provide talented young players from across the country with an opportunity to demonstrate their abilities and progress to domestic and national cricket.
Praising Usama Sharoon Niazi’s efforts to create opportunities for young players, the RCAK president reaffirmed his association’s full cooperation with the PCB in promoting cricket and identifying and nurturing emerging talent.
He said strong school, club and grassroots cricket was essential for a bright future for Pakistan cricket, adding that RCAK would continue to play its role in achieving this objective.
