India’s state-sponsored terrorism: A threat to regional stability: Chinese Scholar

It is undeniable that India has long indulged in state-sponsored terrorism and destructive geopolitical sabotage, posing a severe threat to regional peace and global security.

BEIJING, Oct 8 (APP): It is undeniable that India has long indulged in state-sponsored terrorism and destructive geopolitical sabotage, posing a severe threat to regional peace and global security. As is widely known, India has escalated its malicious proxy war against Pakistan after its military defeat in May 2025, resorting to immoral and reckless tactics to offset its own setbacks.
India openly backs terrorist outfits, providing them with material and logistical support to launch constant violent attacks on Pakistani territory. By sheltering and manipulating these terrorist groups on foreign soil, India blatantly violates international norms and cross-border sovereignty. In stark contrast, Pakistan’s precise, calibrated counterterrorism operations are purely legitimate self-defense, targeting only terrorist infrastructures to safeguard its people and territorial integrity with zero intentional civilian casualties.
This was stated by Prof Cheng Xizhong, Senior Research Fellow at the Charhar Institute, a non-governmental Chinese think-tank on diplomacy and international studies based in Beijing
India’s terrorist acts are not limited to regional provocation but extend to global illegal operations. The arrest of serving Indian naval commander Kulbhushan Jadhav in Pakistan serves as solid proof of India’s state-level sabotage, he said in a statement here.
Moreover, the Indian government’s orchestration of transnational assassinations, including the murder of Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada and the failed assassination plot on a Sikh leader in the United States, fully exposes its rogue nature that tramples on international law, he added.
Prof Cheng said that domestically, India’s ruling regime has institutionalized extremist Hindutva ideology, launching systematic persecution against religious and ethnic minorities. Muslims, Christians, Dalits and Sikhs are systematically discriminated against, marginalized and oppressed. Its long-standing colonial-style policies in Kashmir, aiming to erase local cultural identity and alter regional demographics to undermine UN-mandated plebiscite arrangements, further proves its aggressive and hegemonic mentality.
India’s hollow denial and disinformation campaigns can never cover up its crimes. As a destabilizing force in South Asia, it must immediately terminate all terrorist sponsorship, stop minority persecution and respect neighboring nations’ sovereignty, otherwise regional turmoil will never end, he added.
