Muqam urges KP govt to focus on public issues

Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan and PML-N Khyber Pakhtunkhwa President Engineer Amir Muqam on Thursday urged the KP government to focus on resolving public issues instead of pursuing a long march.

ISLAMABAD, Oct 08 (APP): Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan and PML-N Khyber Pakhtunkhwa President Engineer Amir Muqam on Thursday urged the KP government to focus on resolving public issues instead of pursuing a long march.
Addressing a press conference, he said terrorism incidents continued in the province while the provincial leadership was busy with political activities.
He said that the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were facing serious hardships and questioned what practical change had been brought about despite the PTI government being in power in the province for the third consecutive term.
Amir Muqam said that the PTI had also governed at the federal level for three and a half years, adding that the people had witnessed its performance. He questioned what measures had been taken during that period to address the province’s issues and provide funds.
He said that the provincial government had the responsibility to address public problems and maintain law and order, adding that its focus should not be limited to political slogans and social media activities.
Referring to the proposed long march, the minister said its date kept changing while people in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa continued to face difficulties due to blocked routes.
He said that the government would not allow anyone to paralyze Islamabad, adding that the authorities would take the necessary decision if the march reached the federal capital.
Regarding negotiations, Amir Muqam said that detailed discussions had been held between the two sides and views were exchanged on various issues. He said the terms of a joint agreement had been finalized, but the Chief Minister later backed out.
The minister said that terrorism could be defeated through collective efforts by the federal and provincial governments, political parties, the people and the Pakistan Armed Forces.
PML-N Central Additional Secretary Information Senator Zahid Khan, MNA Ghazala Anjum, MPA Ali Hadi and former MNA Shahzada Mohi-ud-Din were also present.
