A Human-Inspired Artificial Intelligence (AI) Laboratory focused on human-centered AI has been established at the Punjab University Faculty of Computing and Information Technology (PUFCIT) in collaboration with the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA).
Human-inspired AI lab inaugurated at PU

LAHORE, Oct 07 (APP): A Human-Inspired Artificial Intelligence (AI) Laboratory focused on human-centered AI has been established at the Punjab University Faculty of Computing and Information Technology (PUFCIT) in collaboration with the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA).
TIKA Vice President Ali Erjan formally inaugurated the laboratory at a ceremony attended by Turkish Consul General Mehmet Eymen Simsek, PU Pro Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mahmood Saleem, Dean FCIT Prof Dr Shahzad Sarwar, Dr Kamran Malik and faculty members.
Addressing the ceremony, Ali Erjan said TIKA would further strengthen cooperation with institutions in Pakistan and support the development of educational institutions. He said AI is advancing rapidly, with considerable potential in education, health, research and public services, while stressing the need to examine its impact on people and society.
He expressed hope that the laboratory would provide students and researchers with opportunities to develop advanced technical skills while examining the human and societal implications of AI systems.
The Turkish Consul General said that they seek to further strengthen academic ties and mutual cooperation between universities in Türkiye and Pakistan. He said that TIKA is providing financial support for several
projects at various educational institutions in Pakistan, which will help promote educational cooperation and advance the mutual interests of the two brotherly countries.
Prof Dr Shahzad Sarwar said the laboratory is equipped with modern computing and server facilities. He said the PU has also signed a joint research agreement with Yildiz Technical University, Türkiye, under which the two universities would collaborate on research projects, faculty and student exchanges, and the development of AI courses and teaching programmes.
