FAISALABAD, Oct 07 (APP): Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) has formally launched an electricity conservation campaign across all districts of the FESCO region. The primary objective of the initiative is to encourage consumers to use electricity responsibly and prudently while discouraging wastage.
In a message here on Wednesday, the FESCO Chief Executive Officer Engr Muhammad Amir emphasized that conserving electricity is a national responsibility for every citizen and consumer. He said that if every consumer exercised even a little caution in their daily routines, significant overall savings in electricity could be achieved.
He stated that every single unit of electricity saved by consumers contributes to the preservation of national resources and saved units can be utilized by other consumers in need, hospitals, or locations where electricity is critically required.
He clarified that the aim of the energy conservation campaign is not to stop consumers from using electricity, but rather to encourage them to use it efficiently and strictly according to their needs.
Reducing unnecessary electricity consumption will not only help meet electricity demand but also lead to a significant reduction in consumers’ electricity bills.
He urged the consumers to switch off unnecessary lights, fans, and other electrical appliances and use electricity only when needed. Wherever possible, they should make full use of natural sunlight during the day and avoid keeping unnecessary lights on.
Furthermore, old light bulbs should be replaced with energy-efficient LED lights, and electrical appliances should be completely switched off rather than left in standby mode.
He said that consumers should avoid unnecessary electricity usage during peak hours—specifically between 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM.
Similarly, agricultural consumers should, as far as possible, avoid operating tube wells during evening hours to reduce the extra load on the power system during periods of high demand.
He said that the consumers should ensure that the electrical appliances used in their homes, shops, offices, and business centers align with their sanctioned electricity load.
According to the FESCO spokesperson, “If millions of consumers save even just a few units daily, then overall electricity demand can be significantly reduced and this would help alleviate pressure on the power system and ensure a reliable electricity supply to the maximum number of consumers”.
