ISLAMABAD, Oct 07 (APP): Federal Minister for Communications and President of the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party, Abdul Aleem Khan, has said that the country cannot afford any kind of political adventurism under the prevailing circumstances.
He said that national security and peace would not be allowed to be sacrificed at the altar of political interests. He further said that Pakistan currently needs national unity, solidarity and responsible political conduct rather than confrontation and agitation.
In a statement posted on X, Federal Minister Abdul Aleem Khan said that political differences have their own place, but there can be no compromise on national security. In view of the present challenges facing the country, he said, the political leadership, particularly the opposition, must demonstrate political maturity and responsibility.
He said that safeguarding democracy is not the responsibility of the Government alone; the opposition also has an equal responsibility in this regard. He added that the irresponsible political conduct of the opposition under the prevailing circumstances was incomprehensible.
Abdul Aleem Khan said that Pakistan is currently facing internal and external threats, including terrorism and that national unity and solidarity are urgently needed in such circumstances. “The country is in a state of war and at such a critical time, prioritizing political interests over national interests is by no means appropriate,” he said.
The Minister said that the entire nation stands with the brave Armed Forces and Security Forces in the war against terrorism. He paid tributes to the Pakistan Army and Security Forces for their continued sacrifices for the defence, peace and security of the country. He said the great sacrifices of the martyrs demand that peace, stability and national unity be kept paramount under all circumstances.
Abdul Aleem Khan said that the sacrifices of the brave soldiers in the fight against terrorism are a national asset that transcends all political interests. He said the entire nation salutes the martyrs and Ghazis who laid down their lives for the security of the homeland and stands with their families.
He said that the challenges posed by internal and external threats could only be overcome through national unity. All political forces, despite their differences, must give priority to the broader national interest of Pakistan’s security, peace and stability.
Aleem Khan said that the people want peace, stability and development in the country. “The politics of arson, violence, vandalism, chaos and sit-ins is not in the national interest,” he added. The people reject such irresponsible politics that causes damage to the national economy, law and order and national cohesion.
Abdul Aleem Khan said that the need of the hour is for all political forces to keep their differences within the democratic and constitutional framework and jointly confront the challenges facing the country. He stressed that the entire nation must unite and fulfill its responsibility to safeguard Pakistan’s security, sovereignty and peace.
