Acting Senate Chairman meets Balochistan CM in Quetta

ISLAMABAD, Oct 07 (APP): Acting Chairman Senate Syedaal Khan Nasar met Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti and discussed the province’s security, economic development and public welfare.
The meeting also covered the overall political and economic situation in the country, law and order, development projects and measures for providing relief to the people, said a news release issued by the Senate secretariat here Wednesday.
The two sides reviewed steps being taken by the provincial government to improve security, promote development and accelerate ongoing projects across Balochistan.
The acting chairman said that Balochistan’s development and socio-economic uplift were among the government’s key priorities.
He said that the province had talented and hardworking people and was rich in natural resources and mineral wealth.
He stressed the need for transparent and sustainable use of these resources to create economic opportunities and improve living standards.
He also called for greater participation of local communities in the development process so they could benefit from the province’s natural wealth.
The acting chairman said that the government, in coordination with the military leadership, was taking steps to improve the security situation in Balochistan.
He said that peace and stability were essential for development and expressed confidence that the province would see greater peace and economic opportunities with the elimination of terrorism.
Syedaal Khan Nasar said that Balochistan had great potential to contribute to Pakistan’s economic development.
He said that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and Gwadar could become major economic hubs and benefit both Balochistan and the country as a whole.
He stressed that political differences should be set aside in the larger national and provincial interest.
He called for joint efforts by the federal and provincial governments, political leadership and relevant institutions to bring Balochistan at par with other developed regions of the country. He said resolving public issues, improving basic services and speeding up development projects should remain a shared priority.
The acting chairman reiterated his commitment to supporting efforts for peace, development, economic stability and public welfare in Balochistan. He said that the development of Balochistan was integral to the progress of Pakistan.
