PSCA takes action against over 2,000 smog violations across Punjab

The Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has taken strict action against more than 2,000 smog and environment-related violations across the province over the last four days using modern technology.

LAHORE, Oct 07 (APP):The Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has taken strict action against more than 2,000 smog and environment-related violations across the province over the last four days using modern technology.
According to a spokesperson, the authority used smart Safe City centers and drones to continuously monitor and identify activities contributing to air pollution.
During the crackdown, authorities tracked 1,085 smoke-emitting vehicles, resulting in 858 fines and 227 warnings, while 370 e-challans were issued for environmental violations in city alone. Furthermore, 797 vehicles carrying construction material without protective tarpaulin covers were intercepted, leading to 389 fines and 222 warnings.
The spokesperson added that action was also taken against other pollution sources, including 105 violations involving smoke from barbecues and chimneys and 17 cases involving brick kilns, for which warnings and departmental referrals were issued.
Citizens have been strongly urged to cooperate with authorities and report any activities causing smog and air pollution to the Emergency Helpline 15.
