HYDERABAD, Oct 06 (APP):Commissioner Hyderabad Division, Fayyaz Hussain Abbasi, has said that Social media,particularly WhatsApp groups have been proved auxiliary in disseminating information to the administration that might not surface in a timely manner through traditional channels, however, he emphasized the necessity of exercising responsibility and verifying facts while using media and social media platforms.
He expressed these views while addressing the gathering as the chief guest at a five-day media training program titled “The Digital Democracy Landscape: Social Media, Civic Participation, and Public Engagement,” organized by the Women Media Center Pakistan (WMC) at a local hotel in Hyderabad.
Commissioner urged students of Media and Mass Communication to play positive role for highlighting real issues of society and ground realities so that Administration could get help for resolving public issues and right decision making.
Commissioner said that at present digital Media have become a paramount tool for public liaison and civic participation therefore people attached with Media should enhance their professional abilities according to the needs of modern age.
During the training program, participants also received instruction on the responsible and effective use of digital platforms through practical exercises, discussions, and interactive sessions.
According to the organizers, the program aims to equip women journalists, media students, and media professionals with modern digital media skills and provide practical training in responsible and effective digital communication. The five-day training program began on October 6 and will continue until October 10, 2026.
