PESHAWAR, Oct 06 (APP):The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Monday adjourned until tomorrow the hearing of a petition filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmakers regarding the long march.
The court issued a notice to the Additional Attorney General and directed him to present his stance at the next hearing.
The petition was heard by a two-member bench comprising Justice Sahibzada Asadullah and Justice Farah Jamshed.
During the hearing, counsel for the petitioners submitted that they wanted the long march to be allowed to pass through the constituencies of the PTI lawmakers who had filed the petition.
The counsel told the court that the petitioners were willing to welcome the long march in accordance with the law and wanted to be given a legal opportunity to host the march in their respective constituencies.
The Additional Attorney General objected to the maintainability of the petition, saying that an order regarding the long march had already been issued by the Islamabad High Court.
He told the court that he was not prepared to argue the case today and requested that the matter be fixed for hearing tomorrow.
The petitioners’ counsel, however, argued that the long march was already underway and there was no room for waiting until tomorrow.
Justice Sahibzada Asadullah remarked that the court could not grant relief to the petitioners without hearing the other parties.
The court subsequently issued a notice to the Additional Attorney General and adjourned the hearing until tomorrow.
