City University, Khyber Union of Journalists agree to collaborate on AI, Digital Media Training

PESHAWAR, Oct 06 (APP):A delegation from the Khyber Union of Journalists (KhUJ), led by its President, Kashif-ud-Din Syed and accompanied by senior journalist Irfan Khan visited City University of Science and Information Technology (CUSIT) Peshawar on Tuesday.
The delegation was welcomed by Dr. Haseeb-ur-Rehman, Director ORIC/PR at City University. Subsequently, the delegation met with Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Safeer Awan to discuss strengthening cooperation between the university and the journalistic community.
Professor Dr. Safeer Awan stated that Artificial Intelligence (AI), digital media, and modern communication technologies are rapidly transforming the field of journalism; therefore, enhancing the professional capabilities of journalists is a crucial need of the hour.
He affirmed that City University would further strengthen its ties with journalistic organizations and play a significant role in equipping media professionals with modern skills.
He also announced that City University would allocate a special quota for journalists in select short courses and professional training programs.
During the meeting, City University and the Khyber Union of Journalists reached an agreement in principle to move forward with a formal partnership, under which joint training programs, workshops, and professional development initiatives would be undertaken. These will cover topics such as AI for journalists, digital journalism, social media, fact-checking, and modern media technologies.
Kashif-ud-Din Syed, President of the Khyber Union of Journalists, welcomed the initiative to foster closer ties with the journalistic community, commending the efforts of Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Safeer Awan and Dr. Haseeb-ur-Rehman.
Dr. Haseeb-ur-Rehman stated that this initiative is part of City University’s broader policy aimed at promoting meaningful partnerships with professional organizations, the exchange of knowledge and expertise, innovation, and capacity building.
At the conclusion of the meeting, it was agreed to develop a formal framework for long-term cooperation between City University and the Khyber Union of Journalists
