Five arrested in Jand gambling raid, Rs628,290 stake money seized

ATTOCK, Oct 6 (APP):Jand police arrested five alleged gamblers during a raid and seized Rs628,290 in cash reportedly staked on gambling, police said on Tuesday.
According to police, they received information that several persons were allegedly involved in gambling through “Doli Dana” in a forested area of Mouza Langar, Jand, using trees as cover. A police team conducted a raid after making necessary arrangements and found several people allegedly engaged in the activity.
On seeing the police, the suspects allegedly attempted to disperse and flee with the money placed at stake. However, five suspects were apprehended at the spot. They were identified as Muhammad Sparas, son of Abdul Ghaffar; Shahnawaz, son of Khattak Khan; Muhammad Tariq, son of Muhammad Muskeen; Mudassar Khan, son of Shadi Khan, all residents of Langar, Tehsil Jand; and Mulazim Hussain, son of Hayat Muhammad, resident of Mohalla Hussainabad, Tehsil Jand, Attock.
Police said a total of Rs628,290 in alleged stake money was recovered from the spot and a case was registered against the arrested suspects.
Further investigation was underway.
