The first leg of the W15 Islamabad–World Tennis Women’s Futures Championships 2026 commenced on Tuesday at the PTF Tennis Complex, Islamabad, with players from 17 countries competing in the prestigious international event.
W15 Islamabad World Tennis Women’s Futures Championships begins at PTF Complex

ISLAMABAD, Oct 06 (APP): The first leg of the W15 Islamabad–World Tennis Women’s Futures Championships 2026 commenced on Tuesday at the PTF Tennis Complex, Islamabad, with players from 17 countries competing in the prestigious international event.

A total of 30 players representing France, China, Russia, Denmark, Mexico, Uzbekistan, South Africa, the Netherlands, Korea, Nepal, Japan, Hong Kong, Germany, Thailand, Türkiye, the Czech Republic and Pakistan are participating in the championship.
France’s Astrid Cirotte, currently ranked World No. 624, is the top seed of the tournament.
Among the leading Pakistani players competing in the championship are Ushna Suhail, Mahin Aftab Qureshi, Meheq Khokhar, Romaisa Malik and Hajra Sohail.
The event is sponsored by Fatima Group. A total of nine matches were played on the opening day.
In the women’s singles first round, Florentine Dekkers (Netherlands) defeated Kei Yau Cheung (Hong Kong) 6-1, 6-4, while Gloria Levinsky (Czech Republic) beat Serife Pelin Sari (Türkiye) 6-0, 7-5.
Russia’s Varvara Rubtsova registered a 6-1, 6-0 victory over South Africa’s Nissa Finnigan, while Uzbekistan’s Sabrina Olimjanova defeated Warona Mdlulwa of South Africa 6-2, 6-3.
Emma Van Poppel (Netherlands) advanced without playing after Ru Xi Wu of China withdrew. Russia’s Ksenia Laskutova defeated Pakistan’s Ushna Suhail 6-2, 6-0.
In another singles encounter, J. Khramtsova (Russia) overcame Mexico’s S. Leon 4-6, 6-1, 6-1.
In the women’s doubles first round, Jeong Moon (Korea) and Kamonwan Yodpetch (Thailand) defeated Pakistan’s Meheq Khokhar and Russia’s Anna Simkina 6-1, 6-0.
The Netherlands’ E. Van Poppel and Denmark’s E. Jamshidi beat Czech Republic’s G. Levinsky and China’s R. X. Wu 6-2, 6-7(1), 10-3.
The championship will continue on Wednesday, with matches scheduled to commence at 10:00 am at the PTF Tennis Complex.
