PESHAWAR, Oct 05 (APP): A new polio case has been reported in Khyber district, taking the country’s total number of cases to six this year, including five in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to a press release issued Monday night, the Regional Reference Laboratory for Polio Eradication at the National Institute of Health (NIH) confirmed that a seven-year-old child from Union Council Ghundai in Tehsil Jamrud had contracted the poliovirus.
This is the fifth polio case reported in KP in 2026, with three previously recorded in Bannu and one in North Waziristan.
Nationwide, six polio cases have been reported so far this year, including five from KP and one from Sindh.
