PESHAWAR, Oct 05 (APP):World Teachers’ Day was observed at Government Frontier College for Women, Peshawar, with a ceremony highlighting the vital role of teachers in shaping society and guiding the younger generation.
The event was organized by “The Natives” in collaboration with the Directorate of Youth Affairs, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and was attended by around 350 young people, including 200 participants from the newly merged districts of the province.
Former Chairman of the Council of Islamic Ideology, Islamabad, Prof Dr Qibla Ayaz attended the ceremony as chief guest. Principal Government Frontier College for Women Prof Dr Shaheen Umar, Principal Zaryab College Peshawar Alina Ghani, Principal Superior Science College Peshawar Prof Dr M Ishaq and representatives of civil society, government departments and academia were also present.
Addressing the gathering, Prof Dr Qibla Ayaz highlighted the importance of teachers in Islam and society, describing them as key contributors to nation-building and the intellectual development of young people.
He said teachers had an important role in promoting knowledge, peace and tolerance and stressed the need to uphold their dignity and respect in society.
He also appreciated the Directorate of Youth Affairs for supporting the initiative.
The participating principals and speakers also acknowledged the services of teachers and called for greater recognition of their contribution to education and social development.
Honorary shields were presented to teachers in recognition of their services and performance, while cash prizes were distributed among 25 young participants who took part in various activities.
The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks to the guests, participants and organizations involved in arranging the event.
