Principal AMC inaugurates Sports Week

LAHORE, Oct 05 (APP):Ameer-ud-Din Medical College (AMC), Prof Dr Jodat Saleem, has said that sports are not merely games but the foundation of physical and mental fitness as well as discipline in life.
He was addressing the inaugural ceremony of Student and Sports Week at PGMI and AMC. On the occasion, a cake was cut and balloons were released into the air. A large number of college administration, faculty members and students participated in the event. At the inaugural ceremony, all student societies of the college presented a splendid and disciplined march past to the beat of drums. Students participated with full enthusiasm, carrying colourful banners and flags.
Among those who specially attended the ceremony and highly appreciated the students’ abilities, enthusiasm and discipline were Prof Muhammad Shahid, Prof Abad-ur-Rehman, Prof Amina Ahsan Cheema, Prof Hassan Salman Malik, Prof Faisal Shah, Dr Shaista Mubeen, Prof Farhan Rashid, Prof Nighat Haroon, Prof Kanwal Saeed, Prof Javed Magsi, Dr Saira Zeeshan, Mrs Faryad Hussain, Prof Khurram Saleem, Prof Farah Shafi and Prof Nazish Saqlain, along with several other senior faculty members.
Prof Dr Jodat Saleem further said that extracurricular activities are extremely important alongside medical education. The purpose of organising Student Week is to promote healthy activities, mutual harmony and a positive trend towards sports among students so that they can come out into the field and demonstrate their immense talents. He informed that during the Student and Sports Week, competitions in cricket, football, badminton, table tennis and athletics, among others, will be held. These events will not only refine the physical abilities of the students but will also foster team spirit, competitive spirit and mutual cooperation among them.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, the Principal and faculty members praised the efforts, hard work and excellent arrangements of all student societies and the organising committee. This festival will continue throughout the week, and at its conclusion, trophies and certificates will be distributed among the players and participants who demonstrate outstanding performance.
Prof. Muhammad Shahid said that the annual Student and Sports Week is a continuation of the bright tradition of AMC in which equal importance is given to the physical health, mental fitness and personality development of students alongside academic achievements. This occasion will introduce students to the spirit of competition and the high values of discipline, which will play an important role in preparing them as successful medical professionals in the future
