Chiniot DC orders action to improve sanitation, drainage and beautification

CHINIOT, Oct 5 (APP): Deputy Commissioner Ayesha Rizwan on Monday visited various areas of the city and reviewed sanitation, sewerage, drain cleaning and beautification arrangements, expressing displeasure over the unsatisfactory cleanliness conditions in some areas.

Accompanied by Suthra Punjab Manager Hamza Amjad and Municipal Committee Chief Officer Muhammad Arif, she inspected Sui Gas Road and Mohallah Dilkhushab and directed the officials concerned to ensure uniform and quality sanitation across the city on a daily basis. She ordered complete cleaning of the areas and adjacent localities within two days, removal of stagnant sewage water, cleaning of drains and improvement of other essential services. Finding the performance of the Suthra Punjab area in-charge unsatisfactory, she ordered his immediate replacement.

The Deputy Commissioner later visited Lahore Road along with XEN Highways Muhammad Ahmed, Chief Officer Muhammad Arif and Suthra Punjab Manager Hamza Amjad to inspect ongoing beautification work, cleanliness and other arrangements. She directed the officials to enhance beautification activities, promote tree plantation, ensure complete desilting and cleaning of drains, and make effective arrangements for the drainage of rainwater and sewage. She also ordered immediate action to remove encroachments from both sides of the road.

Ayesha Rizwan said improving cleanliness, beautification and drainage was among the top priorities of the district administration. She directed all relevant departments to remain present in the field and ensure effective supervision of sanitation and beautification activities, warning that action would be taken against officers and officials found negligent, lethargic or responsible for substandard performance.
