QUETTA, Oct 05 (APP):Balochistan Governor Jaffar Khan Mandokhail on Monday thanked Prime Minister, Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif for directing the immediate launch of flights from Quetta to Jeddah, Iran, Turbat, and Gwadar in response to their request.
He said the government is committed to increasing air connectivity and the frequency of flights from Quetta to provide traders and industrialists with access to the economic markets of Iran and Central Asian countries.
Presiding over the 11th meeting of the Pakistan-Iran Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Governor Mandokhail commended the performance of outgoing cabinet of chamber of commerce and congratulated the newly elected office-bearers of the new cabinet.
The meeting was attended by office-bearers and members of the Chamber of Small Industries, including Haji Rafoogul Bareach, Naveed Yousuf Rajput, Wali Muhammad Noorzai, Javed Paracha, Ms. Sharmeen Younis, Farzana, and Attaullah Mengal.
On this occasion, the Chamber of Small Commerce and Industries awarded a gold medal to Balochistan Governor Jaffar Khan Mandokhail and honored him for presiding over the annual general meeting of the Pakistan-Iran Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Governor Mandokhail mentioned the current government and Federal Minister for Commerce, Jam Kamal Khan are supportive of the business and industrial communities.
He said if the business community presented serious and viable proposals, the government would take immediate action. The Governor maintained that working relationships at both federal and provincial levels would be further improved, and facilities would be provided at all levels to boost bilateral trade between Pakistan and Iran, therefore, it is essential for traders and industrialists to strengthen mutual ties.
He noted that the target was to raise the trade volume between Pakistan and Iran to US$ 10 billion, a goal that required enhancing trade linkages, border trade, and business facilitation between the two nations.
Jaffar Khan remarked that strengthening small industries would boost local consumption, expand trade volume, and create new employment opportunities, ultimately helping to reduce overall unemployment.
Describing economic development as a process of interdependence, he said that if the smaller wheels of the economy were kept in motion, the larger wheels could also advance more rapidly, the growth of one sector strengthens others, and this mutual reinforcement forms the foundation of overall economic development.
The Governor said he is in contact with the federal government, the Federal Minister for Commerce, and the Iranian Consul General to promote trade and the economy in the province, particularly to expand border trade.
He added that a Gerry’s Visa courier service office is being opened here to streamline visa processes for the business community, thereby making it easier for traders to obtain visas.
He expressed the resolve that ties with the business and industrial communities would be further strengthened at the government level to transform Balochistan to an hub for regional trade and economic activities.
