RAWALPINDI, Oct 05 (APP): The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on Monday discarded 2,100 litres of adulterated and diluted milk during an early morning operation in Jhelum and Dina.
According to a PFA spokesperson, the action was carried out on the directions of Director General PFA Raja Mansoor Ahmed at checkpoints established on the Main GT Road in Jhelum and Dina.
The PFA teams checked 11,000 litres of milk being transported in two milk tankers and found 2,100 litres of substandard and water-mixed milk, which was discarded on the spot.
The authority also imposed a total fine of Rs100,000 on the two milk tankers for supplying adulterated milk.
The milk had been brought from a milk market in Mandi Bahauddin and was intended to be supplied to Jhelum, Dina and Rawalpindi.
The spokesperson said the timely action helped protect citizens from the supply of substandard milk.
Citizens have been urged to contact the PFA helpline 1223 in case of any complaint.
