RAWALPINDI, Oct 05 (APP): City Traffic Police (CTP) Rawalpindi has intensified awareness campaign to promote compliance with traffic laws and maintain road safety across the city on the directives of Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Rawalpindi Farhan Aslam, with modern technology and media platforms being used to educate citizens about responsible road behaviour.
The Traffic Education Wing organised a special awareness programme at FM 88.6, where comprehensive information was provided about traffic rules, road safety measures and the importance of following laws to prevent road accidents.
The official said road accidents remain a major global challenge and can be significantly reduced through greater traffic awareness, responsible driving and effective enforcement of traffic laws.
The Traffic Education Unit highlighted that road crashes are among the leading causes of deaths worldwide, while many people lose their lives every year due to ignorance or violation of traffic regulations.
“Traffic education is the need of the hour to prevent road accidents,” CTO Farhan Aslam said, stressing that all segments of society must work together to promote road safety and ensure compliance with traffic laws.
He said continued traffic awareness campaigns, along with effective law enforcement, had resulted in a 40 percent reduction in fatalities caused by road accidents in Rawalpindi.
Farhan Aslam further said that the media was an important tool for promoting road safety and traffic education.
He added that FM 88.6 had been made more active to strengthen traffic-education initiatives and create greater awareness among citizens.
