ANF arrests 11 suspects in seven drug interdiction operations

The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF)on Monday conducted seven drug interdiction operations  in various cities across the country and arrested 11 suspects, recovering 34.317 kg of drugs worth more than Rs 8.5 million.

RAWALPINDI, Oct 05 (APP):The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF)on Monday conducted seven drug interdiction operations  in various cities across the country and arrested 11 suspects, recovering 34.317 kg of drugs worth more than Rs 8.5 million.
According to an ANF spokesperson,during an operation near a university on GT Road, Rawalpindi, ANF officials recovered 1.4 kg of hashish from a suspect. The arrested man confessed to selling drugs to students of educational institutions.
At Islamabad International Airport, officials recovered 1.072 kg of ice, concealed in the waistcoat of a passenger travelling to Riyadh. The passenger was arrested.
At Multan Airport, 1,080 ecstasy tablets weighing 745 grams were recovered from the baggage of a passenger travelling to Sharjah. The suspect was arrested.
In domestic interdiction operations, ANF officials recovered 12 kg of hashish concealed in a geyser near Faizabad Bus Terminal and arrested the accused.
Near Head Muhammad Wala Interchange in Multan, 10 kg of ice was recovered from a vehicle and two suspects were arrested.
On Zafarwal Road in Sialkot, officials recovered 6.5 kg of hashish and a pistol from a motorcyclist.
In another operation near Chungi No. 26 in Islamabad, 1.4 kg of opium, 1.2 kg of hashish and a large quantity of illegal weapons were recovered from a vehicle and four suspects were arrested.
Cases have been registered against the accused under the Control of Narcotic Substances Act, 1997 and further investigation is underway.
