W15 Islamabad Women’s Tennis Championship to commence on Tuesday

The first leg of the W15 Islamabad–World Tennis Women’s Championship 2026 will commence on Tuesday at the PTF Tennis Complex, Islamabad, with 30 players from 17 countries competing for valuable WTA ranking points.

ISLAMABAD, Oct 05 (APP):The first leg of the W15 Islamabad–World Tennis Women’s Championship 2026 will commence on Tuesday at the PTF Tennis Complex, Islamabad, with 30 players from 17 countries competing for valuable WTA ranking points.
Players from France, China, Russia, Denmark, Mexico, Uzbekistan, South Africa, the Netherlands, Korea, Nepal, Japan, Hong Kong, Türkiye, the Czech Republic, Germany, Thailand and Pakistan are participating in the championship.
Among the leading Pakistani players featuring in the event are Ushna Suhail, Mahin Aftab Qureshi, Meheq Khokhar, Romaisa Malik and Hajra Sohail.
France’s Astrid Cirotte, currently ranked World No. 624, is the top seed of the tournament.
The championship is being sponsored by Fatima Group.
On the eve of the event, Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) President Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi, Secretary General Col. Zia-ud-Din Tufail and the PTF management extended their best wishes to all participating players.
Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi warmly welcomed the visiting international players to Pakistan and expressed confidence that the championship would provide high-quality competition and a memorable experience for all participants.
He said the PTF was committed to promoting women’s tennis and was proud to provide Pakistani women players with an opportunity to compete in $15,000 international women’s tournaments in Pakistan for the first time.
“These tournaments will enable our local players to compete against international opposition, gain valuable experience, win matches and earn important WTA ranking points,” he said.
Col. Zia-ud-Din Tufail said the PTF remained committed to the development of women’s tennis, adding that the two back-to-back WTA Women’s Championships in Islamabad would provide Pakistani players with valuable international exposure.
He said the tournaments would help local players improve their rankings and gain experience of competing at the professional level.
The main draw matches will commence at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday.
