Governor Kundi, Interior Minister discuss security, political situation in KP

PESHAWAR, Oct 04 (APP):Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Sunday discussed the province’s law and order situation, political developments and issues related to the ongoing long march during a meeting at the Governor’s House.
The two leaders exchanged views on the deteriorating security situation in the province, the prevailing political environment and various aspects of the situation arising from the long march.
The meeting expressed concern over the possibility that terrorists could receive facilitation to cross security checkpoints during the long march. It was also observed that the provincial government’s attitude and role regarding counter-terrorism operations during the negotiation process were against the interests of the people and the province.
The participants said that despite consensus on resolving issues, the provincial government demonstrated rigidity, irresponsibility and repeated its policy reversal.
The meeting also termed the alleged use of helicopters and other government resources by the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and provincial ministers during the long march as a violation of the Islamabad High Court’s decisions.
The two sides also discussed other matters of mutual interest and held consultations on various issues.
It was agreed that if the President of Pakistan and the Prime Minister considered it necessary to impose Governor’s Rule or an Emergency to protect the province from terrorism and destruction, the Governor House would perform its constitutional role accordingly.
