FAISALABAD, Oct 03 (APP):The Faisalabad Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FWCCI) has approved the establishment of a Board of Management (BOM) to strengthen institutional oversight and accelerate its ongoing and planned initiatives for women’s empowerment, business development and export promotion.
FPCCI Vice President Qurrat-ul-Ain, speaking as chief guest at the FWCCI Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the FCCI Board Room, said the proposed board would provide an institutional mechanism for expediting the chamber’s projects and future initiatives.
She highlighted FWCCI’s progress since its establishment in 2017, particularly the launch of Pakistan’s first Women Business Incubation Center in 2021, which was upgraded into a Women Resource Centre in 2023. In 2024, the chamber established the Pakistan Women Export Facilitation Center (PWEFC) to help women entrepreneurs access international markets and develop export-oriented businesses.
Qurrat-ul-Ain said efforts were also under way to acquire 100 acres at the Faisalabad Industrial Estate Development and Management Company (FIEDMC) for a proposed Women Entrepreneurs Enclave. Separately, efforts were being made to secure two acres at FIEDMC for a dedicated building for PWEFC and FWCCI.
She paid tribute to founding president Rubina Amjad for her contribution to establishing and developing the chamber and urged members to support newly elected President Kanwal Saeed and her team.
Outgoing President Shahida Aftab presented an overview of the chamber’s achievements during her tenure and thanked the executive committee and members for their cooperation.
Taking charge for the 2026-28 term, Kanwal Saeed said her leadership would focus on addressing internal and external challenges, improving communication with members, strengthening trust and participation, and enhancing financial discipline.
She said FWCCI should demonstrate clear value to its members by highlighting the opportunities, services and benefits that could result from active participation rather than relying solely on membership contributions.
Newly elected Senior Vice President Samia Tahir and Vice President Dr Sania Arshad also addressed the AGM, while Punjab Provincial Ombudsperson Dr Najma Afzal attended as special guest.
Founding president Rubina Amjad congratulated the newly elected office-bearers and executive committee, while outgoing Vice President Maimoona Imran conducted the AGM proceedings, which were attended by a large number of FWCCI members.
