LHC rejects interim bail of five cops in alleged fake encounter case

LAHORE, Oct 02 (APP): The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday rejected the pre-arrest interim bail petitions of former Mustafaabad SHO Hassan Imran and four other policemen in a case involving the alleged killing of a man in a staged police encounter in Kasur.
Justice Sardar Akbar Ali Dogar heard the bail petitions filed by the police officials.
A case was registered against the officials at Mustafaabad police station, Kasur, in 2024 under charges including murder and other offences. According to the complainant’s counsel, the police officials had arrested the man, Rizwan, in connection with a robbery case and subsequently killed him in a fake police encounter while he was in custody.
The counsel told the court that the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had investigated the alleged custodial killing and found the accused police officials responsible.
After the court dismissed their bail petitions, a commotion broke out on the court premises. Lawyers alleged that police were not arresting the accused officials despite the rejection of their bail.
Police later arrested all five officials under tight security and took them away from the court premises.
