The University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (UAJK), Muzaffarabad, has achieved significant recognition in two major international university ranking systems, strengthening its presence in the global higher education landscape.

ISLAMABAD, Oct 02 (APP):The University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (UAJK), Muzaffarabad, has achieved significant recognition in two major international university ranking systems, strengthening its presence in the global higher education landscape.
In the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2026, UAJK has been placed in the 1201–1400 global band, securing 39th position in Pakistan and 1st position in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, said a press release received here on Friday.
The recognition places UAJK among the internationally ranked universities assessed by one of the world’s leading university ranking organisations.
The THE World University Rankings assess universities across a range of areas, including teaching, research environment, research quality, international outlook and industry engagement.
UAJK’s inclusion in the 2026 rankings reflects its continuing efforts to strengthen academic quality, research, international engagement and institutional performance.
UAJK has also secured recognition in the THE World University Rankings by Subject, where it has been placed in the 801–1000 global band for Engineering. The subject-level recognition further highlights the University’s academic and research contribution in the field.
Adding another significant achievement to its international profile, UAJK has made its debut in the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2026.
In its first participation, the University has secured 1,229th position globally, 734th in Asia, 72nd in Pakistan and 1st in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
The UI GreenMetric World University Rankings focus on sustainability and the commitment of universities to environmentally responsible development.
The assessment considers areas including infrastructure and setting, energy and climate change, waste management, water, transportation, and education and research.
UAJK’s debut in the UI GreenMetric rankings and its first position in AJK provide international recognition of the University’s growing focus on sustainability and responsible higher education.
The achievement also establishes a benchmark for further strengthening sustainable practices, campus development and sustainability-related education and research at the University.
