LAHORE, Oct 01 (APP): Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif in her message on the International Day of the Elderly paid great tribute to the elderly and prayed for their health, safety and prosperity.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif said that elders are the reflection of our past, the light of the present and a lesson for the future. Seniors are the lamps in whose light generations grow, seniors made our bright today possible by giving their youthful energies, experiences and sacrifices.
The Chief Minister said that respect for the elderly is a part of our beliefs and culture, while their life experiences and observations are like precious treasures, it is our duty to protect the rights of the elderly and serve them, they should never be forgotten but should be given the respect and status they deserve.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif said that the Punjab government is taking steps for the honor, welfare and convenience of the elderly citizens, the government is improving the old homes for the elderly citizens, while the elderly men and women living in the old homes have also achieved the blessing of Hajj.
She said that the Punjab government is also providing the facility of free travel to the elderly in electric buses.
Chief Minister Punjab appealed to the youth to respect, honor and serve their elders.
