ISLAMABAD, Oct 01 (APP):The Environment Protection and Climate Change Department (EPCCD), Punjab, has been identified as the lead agency for a proposed $10 million Youth Climate Action Grants project to support more than 1,000 youth led green projects and build the climate-action capacity of 5,000 university students across Pakistan, with the initiative being processed under the World Bank Country Partnership Framework for Pakistan for FY2026-35.
According to documents available with Wealth Pakistan, the proposed project will combine financial support for youth climate initiatives with technical mentorship, climate leadership training and a Digital Youth Climate Portal to strengthen young people’s capacity to develop and implement local climate solutions.
The programme envisages providing more than 1,000 green micro-grants to youth-led projects, while 5,000 university students would receive climate-action training and capacity-building support.
Proposed activities include nature-based solutions, rainwater harvesting, community composting, urban greening and water conservation, alongside technical mentorship and climate leadership development.
University networks and climate change clubs have been identified as implementation hubs for the initiative, although the available project document does not specify the detailed responsibilities of partner organisations.
The proposed $10 million project is among initiatives being processed under the World Bank Country Partnership Framework for Pakistan for FY2026-35.
