SHENZHEN, Oct. 1 (APP):Huawei officially launched its next-generation flagship HUAWEI Mate 90 Series on Thursday, introducing new Kirin chipsets, advanced imaging technologies, upgraded displays, and a range of AI-powered features.
The company said the series represents a major technological upgrade through the integration of hardware, software, chips and cloud services.
Huawei’s flagship LogicFolding Tau architecture powers the top-tier models, with the Mate 90 Pro Max Premium Edition and Mate 90 RS ULTIMATE DESIGN featuring the Kirin 9050 Pro chipset. Huawei claims the chip delivers a 31 percent improvement in overall performance. The Mate 90 Pro and standard Mate 90 feature the Kirin 9035 and Kirin 9030 processors, respectively.
The Mate 90 Pro introduces the second-generation Linglong Display, which Huawei says can reach a peak brightness of 12,000 nits. The enhanced Tandem OLED architecture is also claimed to extend panel lifespan by 138 percent. The Pro Max and RS ULTIMATE DESIGN models feature Full-color Linglong Displays with BT.2020 end-to-end color management.
Durability has also been strengthened. The Mate 90 Pro and higher models incorporate Kunlun Xuanwu architecture, while upgraded versions of the glass are used on the premium models. The entire series offers IP68 dust and water resistance, along with IP69 protection against high-temperature, high-pressure water jets.
Photography remains a central feature of the new lineup. Huawei has introduced True-to-Color Camera 3.0 with infrared optical coating across the full focal range. The Mate 90 Pro Max adds an 18 EV ultra-HDR main camera and a 200MP RYYB telephoto sensor, supported by CIPA 7.5-rated image stabilization.
The company has also unveiled the HUAWEI XMAGE Z10 Modular Camera, featuring a 1-inch sensor and continuous 24–240mm optical zoom.
On the software side, HarmonyOS AI introduces features such as automated call handling, real-time translation, content organization and AI-assisted photo and video editing. Huawei said HarmonyOS 6 and 7 now power more than 90 million devices, while its global registered developer community has surpassed 11 million.
Huawei also highlighted its long-term investment in research and development, saying it spent CNY 1.8 trillion between 2007 and the end of 2025.
