DHO reviews immunization coverage, AEFI reporting

ISLAMABAD, Sep 30 (APP): A meeting at the District Health Office Islamabad on Wednesday reviewed immunization coverage, preparations for the upcoming year’s catch-up plan and reporting of adverse events following immunization (AEFI) through the VigiFlow system.
The meeting was chaired by District Health Officer Islamabad Dr Syeda Rashida Batool and attended by EPI Incharge Dr Shazia Gul and members of the Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) team.
Participants reviewed the existing immunization coverage in Islamabad, identified gaps and discussed priority areas for improving routine vaccination services.
The meeting also examined inputs for the upcoming catch-up plan, focusing on areas requiring additional attention to improve vaccination coverage and reach children who may have missed routine immunization.
Detailed discussion was held on AEFI reporting through VigiFlow, with emphasis on timely and accurate reporting, monitoring and follow-up of adverse events following vaccination.
The participants stressed the importance of strengthening surveillance and reporting mechanisms to ensure the safety and effectiveness of immunization services.
The meeting also reviewed measures to improve coordination among EPI teams and strengthen routine immunization activities across the federal capital.
