RAWALPINDI, Sep 30 (APP):The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board has planned construction of a new slaughterhouse at Bhatta Chowk to provide improved and more organised facilities for slaughtering and handling of animals in the cantonment area.
According to official sources, the proposed slaughterhouse will be developed over an area of approximately 16 kanals, with the estimated cost of the construction project placed at around Rs140 million.
The Cantonment Board has initiated the process for detailed planning of the project, including preparation of architectural and structural designs, detailed cost estimates, bills of quantities and technical specifications for the proposed facility.
The consultancy work will also cover preparation of documents required for the construction phase and supervision of the construction work to ensure implementation according to the approved design and technical specifications.
The proposed facility is expected to provide a purpose-built and better-managed slaughtering facility in the cantonment area, besides helping improve arrangements relating to hygiene, sanitation and handling of animals.
Officials said the project was part of the Cantonment Board’s efforts to improve civic and public-service facilities in the area. Further implementation will proceed after completion of the technical planning and design stage.
