DC calls for effective coordination to ensure law and order
ABBOTTABAD, Sep 30 (APP):Deputy Commissioner Abbottabad Sarmad Saleem Akram on Wednesday chaired a meeting of the District Coordination Committee and reviewed the overall security situation, administrative matters and progress on decisions taken during the previous meeting.
The meeting reviewed departmental performance regarding action against illegally residing foreigners, illegal mining and crushing plants, registration of warehouses and seminaries, narcotics control, unregistered and non-customs-paid vehicles, illegal weapons and other sensitive matters.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the relevant departments to strengthen action against hoarding and ensure proper mapping and monitoring of foreign students. He also called for effective implementation of the government’s plan for the repatriation of illegally residing foreigners.
The meeting stressed improved coordination among relevant institutions to prevent the use of illegal SIMs, hate material and other sensitive activities.
Sarmad Saleem Akram said 10 new tourist and hiking tracks had been identified in Abbottabad and directed the relevant departments to contribute manpower and resources for their cleaning, rehabilitation and maintenance.
He clarified that the proposed tracks would be opened to the public and tourists only after completion of the required security clearance.
The meeting also reviewed action against begging, unregistered crushing plants, illegal housing societies, encroachments and other unlawful activities.
The Deputy Commissioner said no housing society would be allowed to operate in the district without an NOC. The meeting was informed that only six housing societies in Abbottabad currently have legal status, while action would be taken against illegal housing societies in accordance with the law.
The Deputy Commissioner directed all relevant departments to ensure effective coordination and timely implementation of the decisions taken at the meeting in the larger public interest, for maintaining law and order and ensuring the rule of law.
