An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Tuesday rejected the bail petition of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Ghulam Mohiuddin Dewan in a May 9 case involving alleged rioting and arson.
ATC rejects PTI leader Dewan’s bail plea in May 9 case
LAHORE, Sep 29 (APP): An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Tuesday rejected the bail petition of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Ghulam Mohiuddin Dewan in a May 9 case involving alleged rioting and arson.
ATC Judge Malik Abid Hussain heard the bail petition filed by the accused.
During the hearing, the investigating officer told the court that Ghulam Mohiuddin Dewan was present at the scene at the time of the incident and that substantial evidence had been collected against him.
The prosecution said the PTI leader was arrested in connection with a case involving speeches at Sherpao Bridge and alleged rioting and arson. He is currently in jail on judicial remand.
However, the petitioner’s counsel argued that solid evidence was not available against the accused and requested the court to grant bail.
The court, after hearing arguments from both parties, rejected the post-arrest bail petition filed by the PTI leader.
