The Lahore High Court (LHC) was informed on Tuesday that citizens across Punjab will now receive copies of First Information Reports (FIRs) in a larger and clearer font after police increased the font size to 14 and began implementing the measure across the province.

LAHORE, Sep 29 (APP): The Lahore High Court (LHC) was informed on Tuesday that citizens across Punjab will now receive copies of First Information Reports (FIRs) in a larger and clearer font after police increased the font size to 14 and began implementing the measure across the province.
The statement was made during the hearing of a contempt petition before LHC Chief Justice Aalia Neelum.
Assistant Advocate General Waqas Umar presented a report submitted by the Punjab Inspector General of Police, stating that the font size of FIRs had been increased in compliance with the court’s directions.
Chief Justice Aalia Neelum asked whether the decision had been implemented across the province.
The law officer informed the court that the directions had been implemented throughout Punjab and that citizens would now be provided copies of FIRs in 14-point font.
At the previous hearing, the court had directed police to increase the font size of FIRs after observing and expressing displeasure over the use of extremely small fonts in the documents.
Meanwhile, the court disposed of the contempt petition filed against former Chuhng Station House Officer Rashid Amin Butt after petitioner Mian Jameel Ahmed informed the court that he wished to withdraw the petition.
