ISLAMABAD, Sep 29 (APP): As part of Islamabad district administration’s anti-begging campaign, the Assistant Commissioner (AC) City conducted a late-night operation that led to the arrest of 15 beggars.
Authorities also detained the driver and vehicle allegedly involved in transporting them from a settlement near Zia Mosque and shifted them to a police station for further action, said the spokesman of ICT administration here.
He said the Islamabad district administration continued its anti-begging campaign with a late-night operation carried out by the AC city. During the action, authorities arrested 15 beggars from different locations as part of efforts to curb professional begging in the capital.
According to officials, the operation also uncovered a vehicle allegedly being used to transport beggars from a settlement adjacent to Zia Mosque. The driver of the vehicle was taken into custody, and both the driver and the vehicle were shifted to the local police station for further legal proceedings.
The district administration said the campaign is being conducted to discourage organized begging and maintain public order in different parts of the city. Officials added that actions against those involved in facilitating or supporting such activities will continue alongside operations targeting beggars.
Authorities urged residents to cooperate with the administration by reporting individuals or groups involved in organized begging. They said public support is essential for the success of the campaign and for identifying those who use different methods to bring beggars into various areas of the capital.
The administration reiterated its commitment to continuing anti-begging operations across Islamabad and taking action against anyone found violating the law. Officials said such measures are aimed at addressing the issue through coordinated enforcement efforts and public cooperation.
