Murree van accident leaves 12 children injured, three shifted to Rawalpindi Burn center
MURREE, Sep 29 (APP):Twelve students were injured when their school transport vehicle plunged into a roadside ditch and caught fire near Bada Hotar, Mohra Mor in Murree on Tuesday, triggering emergency rescue operations and legal proceedings into the transport accident.
Police and Rescue 1122 teams extracted the injured children from the burning vehicle and evacuated them to Civil Hospital Murree for emergency medical intervention.
District Police Officer (DPO) Murree Raza Tanveer Sipra visited the hospital to review clinical facilities and oversee victim care, confirming to media representatives that critically burned children with burn percentages exceeding 25%, identified as Arham, Hassan Talib and Ayesha were referred to the specialized Burn Ward at Holy Family Hospital, Rawalpindi.
The initial cause of the incident, according to locals is found as vehicle’s brake failure, resulting van toppling over and the fire catching.
CM Maryam Nawaz has taken notice of the incident, directing local administrations and hospital management to utilize full resources for the treatment of the victim children.
Commissioner Rawalpindi Salman Ghani, along with Assistant Commissioner City Emen Zafar and the Medical Superintendent of Holy Family Hospital, inspected the Burn Ward. Directing uncompromised clinical services, the commissioner ordered the continuous deployment of senior burn specialists and instructed ward supervisors to ensure the immediate, free provision of essential burn medicines without burdening affected families.
DPO Murree informed that police authorities have initiated formal investigations to determine the precise technical causes of the vehicle crash and subsequent fire.
Assuring the public of strict adherence to legal procedure and safety compliance, the DPO emphasized that district police remain in continuous coordination with healthcare authorities to monitor the recovery of the injured students.
