Embassy of Pakistan in Beijing commemorates Defence & Martyrs Day
BEIJING, Sept 29 (APP):The Embassy of Pakistan in Beijing commemorated Defence and Martyrs Day at a ceremony held to pay tribute to the courage, professionalism and sacrifices of the Pakistan Armed Forces in defending the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Lt. Gen. Luo Huiqi, Secretary of the Commission for Discipline Inspection and Director of the Supervisory Commission of the PLA Army, attended the ceremony as Chief Guest.
Senior Chinese civil and military officials, members of the diplomatic corps, Defence Attachés from various embassies, media representatives, members of the Pakistani community, and officers and officials of the Embassy of Pakistan were also in attendance.
The ceremony began with the national anthems of Pakistan and China, performed by students of Pakistan Embassy College Beijing. The programme also featured documentaries highlighting the heroism and sacrifices of the Pakistan Armed Forces during the 1965 war, as well as their contributions to disaster relief, international peacekeeping, and regional and international peace and stability.
In his welcome remarks, Brigadier Ali Asghar Khan, Defence and Army Attaché of the Embassy of Pakistan, highlighted the professionalism and dedication of the Pakistan Armed Forces in safeguarding the country.
Addressing the gathering, Aizaz Khan, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of Pakistan, paid tribute to the martyrs who laid down their lives in defence of Pakistan. He underscored the enduring friendship between Pakistan and China and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthening bilateral cooperation for regional peace, stability and security.
The ceremony concluded with an exchange of souvenirs between the Chief Guest, the Chargé d’Affaires, and the Defence and Army Attaché, followed by a cake-cutting ceremony.
