CM expresses grief over students injured in Murree van fire
LAHORE, Sep 29 (APP):Punjab Chief Minister(CM),Maryam Nawaz Sharif has expressed deep grief and sorrow over the students who sustained burn injuries in a school van accident in Murree and sought a report on the incident.
On the chief minister’s direction,DC Murree Zaheer Sherazi reached the site of the accident and ensured that the injured students were shifted to hospital for treatment.
Taking notice of the initial report,the CM expressed concern over overloading and the absence of adequate safety arrangements to prevent fire in the school van.
CM Maryam Nawaz directed the authorities to adopt a zero-tolerance policy regarding safety arrangements and fitness of school vans.
“It is unfortunate and painful that clear instructions regarding school van safety have not been implemented,”she said.
The CM directed the administration to ensure the best possible treatment for the injured children undergoing treatment at Holy Family Hospital.
She also directed the Commissioner Rawalpindi to personally monitor the treatment of the injured children and ensure all necessary medical facilities were provided to them.
