KARACHI, Sep 28 (APP): Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani on Monday said that when we strengthen our farmers, we strengthen Pakistan as we have seen Pakistan’s rice production jump from three to six million tons. This tells us that our future is not simply about producing more; it is about producing better.
He was addressing as a chief guest in the 18th Export Award Ceremony of Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan (REAP), at a hotel here.
He said that better research, modern milling, consistent quality, stronger Pakistani branding, and value-added products in Pakistan’s rice sector can help us compete through both quality and reputation.
The Chairman Senate said that he came from the South Punjab, where agriculture is deeply entrenched in the lives of our people. He has seen the power of the hardworking people and of their enterprise, he said.
He lauded that REAP has played an important role in bringing the rice community together. Its ambition to take exports towards five billion dollars gives us a clear direction.
He said that as Chairman of the Senate, and as an agriculturist himself, he is well aware of the potential of rice sector. We will continue to support efforts that strengthen our agricultural economy and promote Pakistani exports, he assured.
He said that he believes we can achieve it. Let us move forward with a shared commitment to turn potential into progress and ambition into reality.
Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani said that as we honor tonight’s trailblazers, let their success serve as a reminder of what Pakistan’s agriculture enterprise can accomplish on the world stage.
He said, “The House of Federation stands with you, and together, we will build a future worthy of our nation’s potential. May Allah bless you, your endeavor, bring prosperity to our hardworking farmers, and take our exports to new heights.”
He said that the Chairman REAP has mentioned about few of their problems, and he will discuss with the concerned quarters.
Earlier, the Chairman REAP Malik Faisal Jahangir in his welcome address said that we are the 3rd largest rice exporters in the world and expressed confidence that we will be the 2nd the largest rice exporters in the globe by 2030.
Malik Faisal Jahangir said that our rice exports are expected to achieve a $5 billion milestone by 2027.
Earlier, Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani presented the trophy, shield and medal among the winners.
