Qufu, Sep 28 (APP): The 2026 China International Confucius Cultural Festival has officially begun on Monday in Qufu, Shandong Province, the hometown of the ancient Chinese philosopher and educator Confucius.
The festival brings together cultural figures, scholars, artists, and visitors from China and around the world including Pakistan to celebrate Confucian culture and explore its enduring influence on education, ethics, philosophy, and cultural exchange.
Set against the historic backdrop of Qufu – home to the Temple of Confucius, Cemetery of Confucius, and Kong Family Mansion – the event highlights traditional ceremonies, academic discussions, cultural performances, and activities showcasing China’s rich heritage.
The festival will run through October 7. Co-hosted by the Shandong Provincial People’s Government, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and the Chinese National Commission for UNESCO, this year’s festival is themed “Benevolence and Rituals for a World of Shared Harmony”.
Beyond honoring Confucius and his teachings, the festival provides a platform for dialogue between different cultures, emphasizing shared values such as learning, respect, harmony, and mutual understanding.
