NBF to host literary session ‘Yaadon Ki Purwai’ on Oct 2
ISLAMABAD, Sep 28 (APP):National Book Foundation (NBF) will host a special literary session titled “Yaadon Ki Purwai” on Friday(October 2) to pay tribute to the literary contributions and intellectual legacy of four distinguished Urdu poets—Nasir Kazmi, Munir Niazi, Amjad Islam Amjad and Mohsin Naqvi.
The event will be held at the National Book Foundation, 45 Book Centre, near Telephone Exchange, Mustafa Town, Lahore.
The session, to be presided over by renowned poet Ghulam Hussain Sajid, will bring together scholars and literary personalities who will share their views on the poetic contributions, intellectual dimensions, literary influence and memories associated with the four eminent poets.
Various aspects of their creative journeys and contributions to Urdu literature will be highlighted during the session. A Ghazal singing performance will also be presented as part of the programme.
Talking to APP, Director Headquarters, NBF, Murad Ali Mohmand said that “Yaadon Ki Purwai” was being organised to highlight the literary contributions and intellectual dimensions of the four prominent poets among the younger generation.
He said the session would enable young readers and literature enthusiasts to become more familiar with their creative legacy and strengthen their connection with Urdu literature.
Managing Director, NBF, Dr Kamran Jahangir, will deliver the opening remarks, while Director Headquarters, NBF, Murad Ali Mohmand, will present the vote of thanks.
Dr Shahida Dilawar Shah, Dr Saima Akram, Dr Shahid Ashraf and Saadia Qureshi will speak at the literary session.
Sania Sheikh and Zahid Hashmi will perform Ghazals, while Areej Fatima will serve as the moderator.
Murad Ali Mohmand said such literary sessions aimed to introduce the creative contributions of prominent figures of Urdu literature to the younger generation and promote the tradition of reading and literary engagement through meaningful literary dialogue.
NBF has invited scholars, writers, poets, teachers, students and literature enthusiasts to attend the event.
