RAWALPINDI, Sep 27 (APP): The Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) on Sunday demanded Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to extend the deadline for filing income tax returns, citing severe technical glitches and system slow-downs on the online IRIS portal.
In a statement, RCCI President Usman Shaukat highlighted that high traffic volume on the portal during the final days leading up to the September 30 deadline has caused significant operational delays. He noted that taxpayers, practitioners and business owners face prolonged processing times while attempting to upload and submit financial records, creating unnecessary stress and administrative backlogs.
Pointing to additional operational constraints including the closure of banking channels and financial institutions on Saturdays, the RCCI president urged tax authorities to grant an immediate extension to facilitate compliance and prevent penalties for the business community.
